Why is our health so hard to understand? Why is it that we have so many health issues in the United States? Why is it that we know things like “we need to lose weight” or “we need to eat better” but then we don’t actually take the steps to do so? Why is it so hard to be healthy? If it was easy to be healthy, everyone would be healthy, right?
A great spiritual leader, Swami Rudrananda, believed that “disease is only a manifestation of a call for help- a hope that somebody will see the need, the need to be loved and to receive energy.”
Entertain this belief for a few minutes. Think about the people in your life who suffer from disease. Do you think they need love and to receive energy?
Our current system loses sight of the fact that we are all so unique. Every single one of us is a unique biological entity. Yes, Yes, we’re all human, we share 99% of our DNA. And there are basic behaviors that research has proven we all must incorporate to be healthy. However, adopting those behaviors only occurs when our own unique perspectives align with the habits that need to be made.
Our current health system spends zero time helping us adopt new healthy behaviors. They continue to prescribe medications that mask the symptoms and continue to give us the same information we already know. The providers don’t have the time or bandwidth and the insurers haven’t figured out how to individually personalize care on a large scale. What we really need is someone to pay attention to us, someone who is going to take the time to understand our own unique perspective and a platform that allows us to connect to this someone and receive love and energy when we call out for help.
I want to share a story with you. I was approached by a client 9 months ago who had been struggling with weight issues their entire life. They started to lose weight and they were terrified that they were going to gain it back and return to their unhealthy, traumatized, overweight life. This is a scary thing for anyone who has lost weight. This client lost the initial weight by joining weight watchers and getting on the treadmill. This client didn’t need me to tell them to eat better and to get moving. NONE OF US NEED THAT! Everyone knows that already! This client needed me to help keep the weight off and transform their life into the life they truly desired, the life that they knew deep down they were meant to live. They needed accountability. They needed support. They needed someone to understand their unique fears, concerns, desires, and understand how to navigate through them.
This client successfully completed a 6-month Transform program. When the first 6 months were over, we continued on to a 6-month Flourish program because they were in awe of how they felt and wanted to continue to rise, grow, and flourish into the person they dream of being.
The first 6 months were packed with self-discovery for this client. We explored their personal nutrition, functional exercise that suited their specific body, and distinguished between the relationships that provided them with energy, support, and love, and the ones that didn’t. We dug deeper into the fears and reasons that the weight was gained in the first place and how to develop tools and strategies to let go of and replace those fears with truths. We looked at their life as a whole and we identified insecurities and strengths. We discussed ways to improve the the areas that they struggled with. They opened their mind to new beliefs, changed their perspective on their old habits, and now live with more inner peace and self-trust.
After signing up for the second program, Flourish, I was updated that their significant other has started to put in the work. They’ve been eating better, moving more, and have even initiated cessation of smoking cigarettes. They are both on their way to preventing illness from entering their life.
By individually focusing on our own unique health, we become vibrant and people notice this. We radiate with health and happiness and people want to be a part of that.
